Betel UK
|
Betel UK are a church and charity that provide social initiatives to rehabilitate former substance abusers and people with other addictions, the homeless and those with other social problems. Betel UK requires a central point from which it can administer and serve its other centres around the UK.
The proposed design extends and remodels an existing warehouse building in central Birmingham. The design brief consists of a 500 seat auditorium, two multi-purpose spaces, a furniture workshop, restaurant, café, green rooms, landscape workshop, child’s soft play, hair salon, along with necessary storage, car parking, cycle and refuse provision. An essential aspect of Betel’s model is their aspiration to be financially self-sufficient, thus requiring the new building to have numerous and flexible spaces available for letting by business, organisations and individuals. This requires many points of entrance and the potential for self-containment of different areas of the building. |
